Amazon Peacock Bass Fishing
Fishing the Amazon region for peacock bass and other exotic fish species has become a very popular activity for avid anglers in the past few years. Peru is a great place to consider for these fish and Amazon Expeditions offers trip packages design specifically for adventurous anglers.

Through local community partnerships and the exploratory work of renowned pro kayak angler Drew Gregory and the other members of our exploration team, Amazon Expeditions and Palo Verde Lodge now confidently offers our Adventure Angler package. This program caters specifically to avid and adventure anglers. The Adventure Angler program is not for just anyone, this fishing adventure will take you further into the jungle and cover a lot more ground than our typical outdoor adventure packages. A few of our fishing locations are best suited for overnight trips and wilderness camping and offer you the best chance of hooking up with the larger fish. This is a catch and release program that allows us to offer an incredible fishing experience while still leaving the natural resources of the area intact and protected for later generations. In our Adventure Angler program we target Peacock Bass, Aruana and Pacu.

Species Overview
The predominant peacock bass species we have in Peru are the Cichla Ocellaris known as the "Butterfly Peacock Bass". The butterfly peacock bass typically grow to around 12 pounds and are not as large as its big brother, the Cichla Temensis that are a popular fishing targets in Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela.

Season Schedule
Summer time is the best time to fish for peacock bass in Peru. We offer our Adventure Angler program from July through November each year. These are the driest months in the Amazon and are idea for fishing. During the remaining months of the year the rivers and lakes are flooded causing most fish species to venture into the flooded rainforest and leave the isolation of the rivers and lakes.

Cost Overview
The Adventure Angler Program is a $50 per day (per boat or pair of anglers) add-on to any of our existing tour packages. Why the extra cost? The Amazon Jungle is not an easy place to get around in. Our roads are the river tributaries, flooded forests, oxbow lakes and other waterways that tangle through the dense jungle. For this reason it takes more fuel, provisions and guide staff to get you to into the remote places where we fish.
